So, new season of anime's Started a while ago, and with it I've picked up two new series to watch (on top of Sola and *maybe* strawberry panic, if I can look past its many faults...), and here's my impressions so far:
K-ON: (
ANN Link)The idea is a group of High School girls form a "light music" rock group, and fun/moe/ success (assumably) ensures. If you're a fan of over-the-top moe and kawaii school-days comedy, then this is definitely for you.
If you're like me, and was hoping for a music-based anime with some substance, eh, you won't find it here.
Its still funny, and you can enjoy it in a guilty,Strawberry Marshmallow/lucky star kinda way, but it's not for someone looking for depth in a music based anime, such as BECK....[segue] OR the other anime I've picked up recently...[/segue]:
Eden of the East: (
ANN Link)
The OP sung By American Band Oasis (in English), the first episode set in Washington DC (with everyone who's meant to speak English does so with proper, non-fob English), and the first shot of the protagonist is of him walking across a busy street wearing nothing but a firearm....
Yes, this is *not*n you're typical run of the mill anime. With nearly a shrill schoolgirl or giant laser to be found, Eden of the East is a Dystopian Drama, full of mystery, devious plots, and dark/adult humour.
For those who enjoy a deeper, more mature plot, and who enjoy/don't mind a standard amount of violence (far from mindless gore, but it appears the plot involves several murders/bombings)
I should also so that the ED is done by School Food Punishment, and the ED is presented in a flipbook/sketchbook style that looks really great in HQ.
So, has anyone else seen these two, or are watching something else new this season?
